History
The evolution of Mohawk Shared Services shows the signs of early collaboration. Members benefited from sharing services amongst hospitals without service interruption and value evolved.
- In 1972 the laundry and linen business was the first to form, commencing operations as Mohawk Hospital Services. Five Ontario hospital visionaries saw the need to create efficiencies by joining together to share the laundry service. Mohawk Hospital Services Inc. was incorporated April 27th, 1970.
- In 1990 Hurst Place Employee Assistance Program (EAP) (originally part of Hamilton Health Sciences) becomes part of Mohawk Hospital Services.
- In 2007 Mohawk Hospital Services changes its name to Mohawk Shared Services Inc. (MSSI)
- In 2008 Hurst Place EAP becomes a division of MSSI
- By June of 2008 the FOHSCI Committee of Supply Chain joined MSSI
- By December 2008 the Diagnostic Imaging Repository formed within the MSSI structure as well
